Responsible Consumption and Production: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Change visualization:

Volume transported to the mill (m³)

Change visualization:

1. Unit sold in 2012. The harvested wood was sent to the Aracruz mill.
2. The volume transported to Três Lagoas increased to meet the demand of the second production line, thus increasing the stock of wood in the yard. Even so, the percentage supplied dropped considerably, since this volume was absorbed by the increase in the ex-works volume when compared with previous months, also to supply the second production line.
Explanatory note in 2017 in Aracruz: Due to the expansion of Três Lagoas, forestry activities have gradually increased since 2015. Annual planting increased year on year until it reached its peak in 2017. Forestry activities tend to continue to increase until 2021 when we will complete seven years of volume increase, which began in 2015.

The process to evaluate customer satisfaction is based on a methodology that takes into account internal and external data. In our internal grievance system, we analyze information regarding logistics and quality, volume sold to preferred customers, uninterrupted relationship time and contract period. External data correspond to the result of the survey and other “spontaneous” statements of satisfaction, such as audits that customers themselves conduct in our operations and awards received. The survey is sent annually to preferred customers (that account for approximately 80% of our sales volume) and certain customers considered strategic. In the first quarter of the following year, we analyze data from the previous year to calculate the level of satisfaction obtained.

1. About the increase in recycling values in 2017: we recycled 7,400 tons of lime sludge more in relation to 2016 because we were able to develop a client of the ceramic area that used limestone and now starts to buy our lime mud , this enabled us to leverage the mud recycling number in 2017; we generated 4,800 tons more of sand in the boilers, which were fully recycled and therefore increasing recycling compared to 2016; and we increase the sale of tailings (white and brown) in 2017. These are the fibrous tailings that leave the process at one point, one in the digester sieves and the other in the drying during the passage through the fiber filter (white tailings) . These fibers are sold to paper mills for use in the manufacture of less noble papers.

Total water withdrawal by source in forestry operations (m³)

Change visualization:

1. Observations on consumption in 2016: (i) Aracruz: The nursery is new and was in a learning curve from 2014 to 2016, when it reached its production capacity. This increase in production of seedlings requires greater use of water. (ii) Jacareí: The low rainfall in 2014 required the use of more groundwater in early 2015, returning to stability in 2016. However, when we add the amounts (surf + ground) for both years, variation is around 1%. (iii) Três Lagoas: Expansion of the forest base to supply the second production line.
2. In 2017, two reservoirs for the use of rainwater began to operate, one in Helvécia (Bahia state), to supply the Aracruz plantations, another in Capão Bonito (São Paulo state), which supplies Jacareí.
In September 2017, the nursery that supplied the Três Lagoas unit was decommissioned and Fibria started to operate the seedling factory, a highly automated nursery. With the seedling factory, the unit no longer withdraws water to start using water from the pulp mill.

1. Fibria considers significant suppliers to be those with annual cost in excess of BRL 5 million, those that provide services that affect the company's organizational climate - food, transportation, or healthcare - and those that supply raw materials and inputs that are essential for producing our final product (pulp).
2. Suppliers that were not approved in the screening process may attempt a new evaluation. If they are rejected again, they are analyzed by the screening Commission, which will consider all risks involved in hiring.
3. As of 2015 all screening processes (except seedlings and offshore) adopted the sustainability questionnaire.
4. As recommended in the audit and stated in the Report of the previous cycle, we are considering only the significant investments of 2017, related to the expansion of the second pulp production line in Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul state).
